Very important

And this is the importance of representation, especially for young children.

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

:/ so Superman gets an updated version of his original costume but wonder woman gets some sexualised leather get up?! OK can Superman Vs Batman get any lamer? Maybe I’m on my own here but I really don’t like this outfit at all.

DC really need to step it up if they are gonna compete with Marvel Cinematic tbh.

I have to agree. The model(actress?) looks amazing but DC need to step up their game. I mean I’m pretty sure Marvel is currently top dog in the movie department. I’m not sure about the comics because I don’t follow them.

But seriously DC… You can not overly sexualize a woman and still have fans… Look at black widow, Maria hill, Melinda may.

They don’t run around in skimpy little things.

I don’t read anything from DC tbh I looked but there aren’t many female lead titles in there that I could see. Marvel have Black Widow, Elektra, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel and She-Hulk this year alone not to mention a plethora of strong and interesting female characters in other books.

They really take their female audience seriously and are trying to tackle the issue of representation across the board but DC leave a lot to be desired. The best comic book producer next to Marvel has to be Image comics at the moment.

I just…she looks like she stepped out of a BDSM movie. Given the fact that they refuse to make a Wonder Woman movie because they feel people wouldn’t get it? You had a fricking TV show for gods sake so why the hell can’t you make a movie?! Worst excuse ever by the way, they’ve now seemingly reduced her to a side character and turned her into an object for fan boys to drool over. Not cool DC :/

"I don’t read anything from DC tbh but that’s cool lemme just comment on it anyway"

From what you listed, Marvel has six solo titles led by a woman now. I’m going to include X-Men which is an all-ladies team. So that makes seven.

As of now, DC has Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batwoman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, World’s Finest. (not counting Birds of Prey and Pandora since those are slated to be canceled, and the BoP relaunch is still a rumor at this point). That makes six, which is one less than Marvel. One less. DC is also going to digitally release Sensation Comics which is led by WW, though I’m optimistic that it could go on to print seeing as that’s what happened to Smallville S11.

(I will definitely criticize, however, that DC has zero WoC leading any titles after Katana and Voodoo got the boot, and that Batgirl erased a disabled character.)

Seeing as you don’t read DC, how on earth would you know about the female characters in the supporting casts of the other books?

In Aquaman, we have Mera and Tula, the former who is the queen of Atlantis and had her very own arc that she handled while Aquaman had other things to settle. Aquaman and the Others have two WoC, one of whom is a canon queer lady. Batgirl has a bisexual trans WoC as a supporting character. Batman Beyond Universe introduced a black female Flash Danica Williams, alongside Big Barda and Aquagirl. Grayson has a recently racebent Helena Bertinelli. Earth-2 has a brown woman as Aquawoman, Queen of Atlantis, and an Afro-Latina as Hawkgirl. Batman Eternal has Bluebird, Spoiler and Catwoman. The Lantern books still have Yrra Cynril, Carol Ferris, and Soranik Natu having prominent roles in current arcs. The Flash has Iris West (fun fact, she’s racebent in the upcoming Flash tv series)Justice League United has Supergirl, Stargirl, the new Cree heroine Equinox, and racebent Alanna Strange. Zatanna is leader of Justice League Dark. Did you consider them?

So. Let’s go back to WW’s outfit.

"Superman gets an updated version of his original costume but wonder woman gets some sexualised leather get up"

Like…the most prominent change of Superman’s “updated” look is the removal of the red underwear. The most prominent change for Wondy is probably no star-spangled bottom. Wonder Woman has had this look since the Bronze Age, and in Lynda Carter’s days as well. This Wondy’s get up appears to have tie ins to ancient Greek soldiers’ uniforms.

Know what was one of the materials Greek soldiers used? Leather. Amazing.

True, I would’ve definitely given her straps to hold up the bustier and ditched the wedge boots. Those details aside, she doesn’t look too far off from her Greek influence.

If you want to talk about sexualized, I would pick how Wondy is posed here over Black Widow any day. Which is even more glaring when you have her with the other dudes. Here’s something: You can be fully-covered and still be sexualized.

And since we’re on the topic of Black Widow…

Given the fact that Marvel Studios refuse to do something about a Black Widow movie that is still in development hell (if ever confirmed) and because they want to ~do their own thing and carry out the vision they have~ that apparently includes two other white dudes and sequels to other dude movies? You had fricking three other movies (soon to be four with AoU) with her for gods sake so why the hell can’t you make a solo movie?! Worst excuse ever by the way, they’ve now seemingly contented to have her as a ~supporting character~. And if not Black Widow, how about other heroines? There are many people who know jack shit about Ant-Man and Stephen Strange and yet you’re keen on their movies. Not cool Marvel.

^ Those words sound familiar?

There’s no mistake.. They’re definitely brothers.
